Our Story
JigsNews, Bhutan’s only fake news site was borne from a vision to one of our team members. One night, The Divine Madman and the Phallus Saint, Lam Drukpa Kunley appeared to the oldest member of our team and asked her to share the funniest media story in recent times. Instead of recollecting, as a devote Buddhist, she started reciting prayers further infuriating the saint. He banged her head with his enormous phallus and she cried, “Ohh Jigs, give me a funny piece of news.”
Drukpa Kunley announced her enlightenment that moment and asked her to start a media conglomerate that would make people laugh. Next day, that was in the second week of April, 2012, she announced her vision to start JigsNews. Jigs in Dzongkha means Incredible. Her group of friends, all ugly incredibles and diehard fans of Drukpa Kunley said they are in.
The JigsNews team started off on Twitter and then moved on to Facebook and now we are with a blog which is intended for our Guardian Saint who doesn’t own a Facebook or Twitter account.
You can also send in your Bhutan-based fake news suggestions which, if fakeworthy, will be published. We humbly submit that all our news stories should be taken with a pinch of truth. Our ultimate goal as a media organization is to be biased, untruthful and unethcial as far as possible.
